Under the leadership of Altar Guild Director Lucinda Tatman, the members prepare the altar and church for celebration of the Eucharist and all other services and offices in the church. Duties include assuring that the communion elements are all available and correctly placed in accordance with traditional practice. In addition, the guild ensures that the correct liturgical season colors adorn the altar, pulpit, and lectern.
Devoted members of the altar guild maintain vestments, altar linens, and all accouterments in good, clean repair. They tend to the candles, order wine and wafers as needed, and they polish all the brass.
When you enter the church, you see everything is orderly and ready for worship. This happens because a devoted group of members has worked quietly behind the scenes to prepare the stage for the profound drama of the Last Supper that will be reenacted during communion.
